Overview

At Baskson Hospital we take care of several Dental problems with compassion and care from the start till the finish.

In-hospital care for emergency dental treatment for oral trauma or oral infection may be a medical necessity in some patients who may require general anesthesia for their dental treatment, including routine exams. This may be because an underlying medical condition or developmental disability, or their behavioral problems because moderate sedation, may have failed in the past.

Patients who meet initial criteria for in-hospital care are accepted and treated in the hospital.

The Expert’s Talk

OPD Timings:

What We Treat / Procedures
Braces/Invisalign
Orthodontic treatment options include standard, self-ligating and ceramic braces, Invisalign and removable appliances (retainers). Orthodontic Care also involves straightening of teeth, correcting problems with bites and closing gaps between teeth.
Bridges
Fixed partial dentures, or bridges, are prosthetic replacements of one or more missing teeth cemented or otherwise attached to the adjacent natural teeth or their implant replacements.
Cosmetic Dentistry
This specialty involves treatment aimed at aesthetic improvement, ranging from tooth whitening to veneers.
Craniofacial Anomalies
Congenital deformity resulting in lack of fusion of the soft and/or hard palate, either partial or complete. Our clinic takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating cleft lip, cleft palate, ear anomalies and craniosynostosis, which involves the early fusing of one or more of the bones in the skull and face during fetal development.
Crowns
Crowns are artificial replacements for missing tooth structure. They surround the remaining coronal tooth structure or is placed on a dental implant. Typically a crown is made of metal, ceramic or polymer materials or a combination of these.
Dentures
Dentures are an artificial, removable replacement for some or all of the natural teeth and adjacent tissues.
Endodontic (Root Canal)
The root canal is the portion of the pulp cavity inside the root of a tooth; the chamber within the root of the tooth that contains the pulp. Root canal therapy, commonly referred to as just root canal, is the treatment of disease and injuries of the pulp and associated conditions. This may involve removal of the pulp, especially if needed to treat infection or abscess.
Extractions
Sometimes it is necessary or recommended to remove an entire tooth, crown and root. Self-referring patients are advised to consult with our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery faculty clinicians for expert advice and treatment.
Fillings
A filling refers to the restoring of lost tooth structure, caused by decay (caries, or cavities) by using materials such as metal, alloy, plastic or porcelain.
Implants
Patients interested in implant dentistry are provided state-of-the-art analysis and treatment advice.
Orofacial Pain/Temporo Mandibular Disorder (TMD
We provide diagnosis and management of pain in the head, face, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), mouth and teeth, as well as associated headaches and neck pain, including neuropathic pain (phantom tooth pain).
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Here we focus on surgical treatment of the oral cavity and jaws, including extractions, implants and sleep apnea surgery.
Orthognathic Surgery
Jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic (or-thog-NATH-ik) surgery, corrects irregularities of the jaw bones and realigns the jaws and teeth to improve the way they work. Making these corrections may also improve your facial appearance.
Oral Medicine
Our specialists care for patients with oral potentially malignant disorders, oral cancer, lichen planus, vesiculobullous disorders and other immune-mediated diseases, oral complications of cancer therapies, orofacial pain disorders (including burning mouth syndrome), oral infectious conditions, HIV-related oral diseases and Sjögren’s syndrome, among others.
Pediatric Dentistry
Pediatric dentistry addresses the unique needs of children and teenagers, whose dentition is still maturing and whose hygiene habits are developing. Young patients often benefit from a more age-appropriate approach by providers.
Prosthodontics
This specialty focuses on artificial replacement of teeth and/or oral structures; it includes bridges, dentures, crowns, implants and mouth reconstruction.
Temporo Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the connecting hinge mechanism between the base of the skull (temporal bone) and the lower jaw (mandible). Abnormal functioning of this joint can result in pain. We help take care of the pain.
